February 2013...
Visions of future history
Rumours of future myths
Glimpses of the forgotten present replaced by
the half-remembered past
As economic systems evolve and mutate
collapse and spring up,
As entire districts of our cities fall into decay,
as the first become last and the last become first...
An entire block of the city's southside is transformed by a multitude of collaborative projects, exhibitions, performances and installations into a new New Town, a miniature city of curated events and art works, a microcosm of a hypothetical Nation, filled with music and song.
It will bring together creative visionaries from a diverse range of disciplines to fill this remarkable building with speculative scenarios, subject parts of it to new economic systems and thread theatrical and musical events through it, across courtyards, into halls, bars, intimate spaces and secret passageways.
By referencing our city and different parts of our nation's remarkable past and imagining into its future, we want to create a dynamic, unforgettable audience-experience that becomes an in-depth exploration of a sense of place and possibility. Here, not now.
